God loving, wife, and lifelong Southern Maryland Mama of 3. Baking with sour dough is something I began teaching my 9 year old son as part of our Homeschooling journey. It began with us baking together, and over time I started to also include my older children in my love for baking. My daughter Kaitlin is a huge part of how I began Freckles & Flour, (quite literally she is the “freckles”) and encourages me in every aspect. Ryan is my first “baby” in that he was 14 when Colton was born….Ryan is always ready for whatever I come up with. If it’s my vendor events, or Colton’s own Market on weekends, Ryan is there front and center with a smile ready to go beyond any expectations I can come up with! It was because of their enthusiasm that I continued learning to prepare bread that is good for my family, without the preservatives, and this has now turned into a way to share my love of getting back to simpler ways, with friends, our extended family and now my community. “Freckles & Flour” came to be from looking at my children and wanting to incorporate each of them in my sour dough journey. When I close my eyes, I see their little freckled faces, and in that moment I am filled with complete joy, just as I am seeing others enjoying my sourdough in their homes, with their family! My absolute love of my children (getting to be their Mama) and my love of baking bread blends together perfectly, hence Freckles & Flour has been brought to fruition!
