Welcome! I'm glad you're here! I'm Erin, Owner and Baker of Five Loaves. I am a Registered Nurse by weekend and a full time momma/wife/baker by weekday. My love for Sourdough began when I started to take my own health more seriously. Sourdough is known as a natural leavening agent. It is also known to have several health benefits. *Due to its long fermentation time gluten is broken down and consumption is easier on the digestive system. *Sourdough has a lower glycemic index which helps to better control blood sugars, thus preventing a rapid spike in blood glucose levels. *Sourdough is known to be higher in B vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants *Sourdough has very minimal preservatives and ingredients you can pronounce!...oh and did I mention it tastes AMAZING!?
