In December of 2017, I had taken off work to go Christmas shopping. However, the day didn’t go as planned. I woke up and found myself unable to walk due to excruciating pain in my feet. It was so unusual I thought it would pass and be fine later that day or the next. As the weeks passed, the pain spread to my knees, hips, spine, and hands, leaving me in a state of constant discomfort and uncertainty. It was during this challenging time that I had a profound realization: if the doctors couldn’t find a solution, I might never be able to bake a cake for my loved ones, especially my daughter, on her special days. Baking has always been a cherished tradition in our family, with recipes and techniques passed down from my mother to me. The thought of not being able to share this love and knowledge with my own child was heartbreaking. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of amazing doctors and the wonders of modern medicine, I now have a pretty normal life – a life that allows me to spend precious time cooking up love with those I hold most dear. Through the years I have spent cherished hours in the kitchen. My daughter has found her love of baking and hopes to own her own bakery one day. And that is how The Vanilla Café was born. We live for the present in our home. Afterall, they call it the present because it is a gift. This experience has not only reinforced the importance of cherishing every moment we have with our loved ones but has also inspired me to share this love with our community. Through The Vanilla Cafe, we have the opportunity to spread joy and create lasting memories with every cake, pie, and treat we bake. We pour our hearts into every creation, using only the finest ingredients and time-honored techniques to ensure that each bite is a testament to the love and passion we have for our craft.
