I’m a small business owner who loves baking and cooking for others. Delivering love through the process of cooking and serving meals is my passion. I took on the journey of cooking as a side business with my daughter in 2020 when she inspired me to set up a small stand at the farmers market in Iowa City for her and her little brother. Since then, my family and I have served various events at small and large scale alike; always learning new techniques and ideas from each experience. This is a micro bakery project, one that has taken a lot of inspiration and long hours of work to create. I intend to deliver wonderful, creative and most importantly fresh products to all who visit. My food business name La Madre, means The Mother and got its name not only because a mother cares to feed everyone who visits her home, but also because my kitchen is the mother load of variety in the food that is offered. In Spanish the word ‘Madre’ is used extensively to describe things, quality or action. (A toda Madre= something that’s excellent) (desmadre= chaos/out of control ) (Madres=wow!/damn!) (Madrazo=A hit) we often use this word in our home kitchen as it’s often chaotic, we’re always trying new recipes that are excellent and every time we perfect something, and it becomes a hit we cant help but scream Madre!
